Managing Directors Comments - 21/03/04Whilst pondering on the subject of Pedal Cars (an occupational hazard for me), I thought an update on the market for our range would be most appropriate. The UK Pedal Car Company was formed 18 months ago now, and I still am taken aback by the huge volume growth this company has experienced during this time. How did it all begin? Well one of my employees owned a 1960\'s Austin J40, and I offered to buy it from him, but he declined, so I went searching for other pedal cars. I remember as a young boy, driving past a car showroom in Poole, Dorset, where I used to live, and seeing a brand new powder blue Austin J40 in the window. My Dad wouldn\'t buy it for me, but how I kept on and on, and years later I still remember that car, clear as daylight. Perhaps this was my destiny to become as involved in the industry as I am today. Six pedal cars were purchased initially for promotional useage, and almost immediately, customers were asking if they could buy the cars. I then ordered a further 12. These soon went, and at this point I realised the potential in the market for the products, and ordered 5 containers, set up the new company, and the rest is history. I think the appeal is in the fact that the cars and planes will last for years, nothing on them is really breakable. A child may have one for a gift, use it for many years, and then it gets put in the loft, or left in the garage, only for another child to perhaps take it on, and so the ball keeps rolling! Eventually, you have an appreciating asset. People love to buy something old and rare. Just look at the \"History\" section on our homepage, and see what the original cars and planes are worth. Most of my cars are manufactured in China and Korea. The quality build is excellent, and this year we will expect to bring some seven to eight thousand items into the UK, for European distribution, and are constantly adding new products to the range. Brum has been doing fantastically well, exceeding all expectations, and next month, we are taking delivery of our first container of petrol engined \"Easy Rider\" styled motorcycles for children aged six to thirteen. I\'m very excited by this product, as it is an absolute first for the UK, and looks quite stunning. This will appear on our website in the next couple of weeks. So to close, thankyou to all my customers for their business and continued support. We will no doubt be here for many years to come, bringing smiling faces to children throughout Europe, and of course grown up\'s too!! Kind regards Richard Adams
